The basis of the Elipse Program is a revolutionary soft balloon that will create a feeling of fullness in your stomach. Elipse is designed to help you reduce your food intake by taking up space in your stomach.
This will give you a chance to ‘satisfy’ your hunger and make healthier food choices as well as prevent the urge to go on a binge that often accompanies diets. The balloon is a 20-minute session with your doctor.
The balloon is swallowed during a 20-minute visit to your doctor and is naturally expelled in about four months.
There is no need for surgery, endoscopy or anesthesia.
Approximately 16 weeks after the Elipse treatment, patients lose an average of 10-15 kg and 10-15% of their body weight.
The Elipse Program
Reasonable weight loss
Join the Elipse Program to eat less without feeling hungry.
Patients participating in the Elipse Program lose an average of 10-15 kg at the end of four months of balloon treatment.
The Elipse Balloon is placed in your stomach during a short 20-minute visit to your doctor. You swallow the capsule, which contains a balloon attached to a thin catheter. An X-ray is taken to make sure the capsule is in the correct position.
Once the capsule is placed in your stomach, your doctor uses the catheter to fill the balloon with Liquid. A second X-ray is taken to confirm that the balloon is full. When the balloon is full, your doctor will slowly remove the catheter and you will return to your daily life. While the balloon is in your stomach, you can eat less without feeling hungry. Approximately 16 weeks after insertion, the Elipse Balloon empties on its own and is naturally discharged from the body.
The balloon is placed in your stomach during a short 20-minute clinic visit to your doctor. You will swallow a herbal-based capsule with a deflated balloon inside. The balloon is attached to a long fine catheter. After the capsule reaches your stomach, your first X-ray is taken to confirm the position of the capsule is correct.
Your doctor then uses the catheter to fill the balloon with fluid and a second X-ray confirms that the balloon has been filled correctly. When the balloon is full, your doctor will slowly remove the catheter and you will return to your daily life.
Most patients can swallow the capsule containing the Elipse Balloon without any problems.
However, if you have trouble swallowing, your doctor may use a fine wire (stylet) to help position the capsule in the right place without endoscopy or anesthesia.
Patients lose an average of 10-15 kg at the end of four months of balloon treatment.
The balloon is filled with 550 ml of water. How long does it take to return to normal activities after the balloon is placed? Most patients can return to their normal activities within a day or two.
However, some people experience nausea, abdominal cramps and, rarely, vomiting after the balloon is inserted. In most cases, your doctor can prescribe commonly used medication to help relieve these symptoms.
There are no absolute dietary restrictions in the Elipse Program.
However, to get the most out of the program and maximize your weight loss and comfort, your dietitian will give you advice tailored to your body and your weight loss goals.
At the end of approximately 16 weeks, the timed valve on the balloon will open, allowing the balloon to be emptied and to be naturally expelled from the body while using the toilet without the need for any medical intervention.
In rare cases, the balloon is removed by vomiting.
After the balloon is expelled, the Elipse Program and your healthcare team will continues to support you.
This will help you consolidate your new lifestyle habits and focus on weight loss.
